Spring is coming - de lente is in aantocht
The snow is melting and soon the crocus (a bulb) is coming above the ground. An other plant that has flowers in the late winter and early spring is the Helleborus. The photo shows Helleborus purpurascens.
De sneeuw begint langzaam te smelten en de crocus (een bolgewas) zal snel boven de grond komen. Een andere plant die het vroege voorjaar en late winter bloeit is de Helleborus. Afgebeeld is Helleborus purpurascens.

Hostas - hosta's  Hostas are very beautiful, hardy plants with decorative leaves. They are beautiful plants for the cottage garden. There are hostas with green leaves, blue, grey or yellow leaves. Or with green edges and white center or yellow edges. To many colour combinations to write down. Hostas are excellent plants for shady places but some hostas will even grow in half or full sun, especially the plants with yellow or white leaves. Hosta's zijn mooie, winterharde planten met decoratieve bladeren. Er zijn heel veel verschillende bladkleuren zoals blauw-grijs, groen, geel, of groen met een gele rand of wit met een groene rand. De meeste hosta's groeien het beste in de schaduw, half-schaduw of diepe schaduw. Sommige doen het ook goed in de zon, met name de hosta's met geel of wit blad.

Cottage plants - Cottage planten
What are cottage flowers? There is no real definition of cottage garden flowers, but they are almost all very forgiving, easy-going plants that were originally grown by poor people who had neighter the time, the space or the money to go in for anything other than the most basic, self-sufficient form of gardening. Cottage garden flowers are undemanding and easy to propagate; they had to be, otherwise they would not have survived. (source: Cottage garden flowers, by Sue Philips). Wat zijn cottage planten? Eigenlijk is er geen echte definitie van cottage planten. Wel zijn het makkelijke en eenvoudig te vermeerderen planten, die van oorsprong in de tuinen van arme mensen groeiden die geen tijd, ruimte en geld hadden voor een exclusievere vorm van tuinieren.
